Paddle the Back Waters of the Mississippi River:  Lytles Landing, Brice Prairie, WI

Saturday, September 9th, 10:00 a.m.

Mississippi Valley Conservancy invite you to join us for a paddle tour of the canoe trail on the north side of Brice Prairie.  This event is part of Mississippi Valley Conservancy’s 2017 “Linked to the Land” series of outdoor experiences sponsored by Mayo Clinic Health System – Franciscan Healthcare in La Crosse.

The Onalaska Canoe Trail was opened last year through funding by the Onalaska Tourism Commission.  Refuge staff and volunteers will navigate us through the backwaters of the Black River where you can enjoy a leisurely canoe tour through the scenic backwaters.  We will stop along the way to view wildlife and the beautiful views from the river.

We will have several canoes available for use on first come, first serve basis.

Canoes and kayaks will launch from Lytles Landing and paddle to Fred Funk Landing, which is 4.3 miles.  We will provide 6 canoes, equipment and life jackets to borrow via pre-registration; registration will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.  All boaters are asked to pre-register by September 6th to allow coordinators to best plan for event logistics and group safety.

If you have your own boat, please plan to drop it off at Lytles Landing by 9:30 a.m. and then bring your vehicle back to Fred Funk Boat Landing.  All boaters should plan to be at Fred Funk Boat Landing between 8:30 – 9:45 a.m. to catch a free shuttle to the boats.
Please RSVP to Kathy Frise-Groth at 608-784-3606 ext. 6 or email at [email protected]
