FOR THE WILD: Firebreak construction party at Boscobel Bluffs
Join our Land Management team for a summer work party at Boscobel Bluffs!
At Boscobel Bluffs we’ll be working to create a new firebreak for a prescribed burn planned for spring 2023. If you’re interested in learning how to install a firebreak on your own land, this is a good opportunity to learn how! We’ll provide all the necessary PPE so all you’ll need to bring is a lunch and plenty of drinking water.
What to bring: Bag lunch, water, snacks, sturdy close-toed footwear, weather-appropriate field clothes (including long pants and long sleeves), hat, bug spray (apply to socks, lower legs, and pant bottoms for tick protection), sunscreen. Bring your own work gloves and safety glasses if you’d prefer to wear your own (we will bring extras if needed).
From La Crosse follow US-14/61 south to Readstown. Turn right/south onto US-61 and follow it for approximately 40 miles until you reach Elm St/US-61 in Boscobel. Go 2 blocks past the Dairy Queen in Boscobel and then turn left/east onto Mary St, which becomes County Road MS. Our fenced parking lot is on the left, 2 miles east of the intersection of Mary St and US-61. There is a gate and Conservancy kiosk in the parking lot.
