In recent weeks, La Crosse has had a most unusual visitor: a brown booby! This was the first ever recorded sighting of the sea bird in the state of Wisconsin and it choose to visit the Black River, right in front of Mississippi Valley Conservancy’s Black River Bottoms nature preserve!!!

According to The Cornell Labs' All About Birds, brown boobies are common in the Caribbean but scarce in the United States away from Puerto Rico.

Thanks to James Matile for sharing his photo of the visitor.
