CANCELLED: Earth Day Clean-Up in Onalaska
UPDATE: This event has been canceled due to wet conditions, possible rain, and high winds.
Are you looking for a way to give back this Earth Day? If so, please consider helping us pick up trash and clear invasive brush at La Crosse River Conservancy along S Kinney Coulee Road in Onalaska.
This volunteer event offers a chance to enjoy the outdoors while helping mother nature, and we hope you can make it! It's fun, easy, and great exercise, plus you'll be able to see beautiful views of the La Crosse River and the surrounding landscape. Participants must be able to bend down and work off-trail on a slope for this activity.
Please bring weather-appropriate work clothes, sturdy close-toed footwear, water, and snacks. If you prefer your own work gloves and safety glasses, bring those as well. We will provide all equipment needed for the workday.
We will meet in front of the preserve kiosk for this activity and will take a very short walk to the work area, which is located in between Stoney Creek Hotel and Kwik Trip #350. Please reference the directions in the gray box to the right for parking information.
The nature preserve is located in La Crosse County between Hwy 16 to the west, I-90 to the north and County Road B to the south.
From I-90, take exit 5 (Onalaska) to Hwy 16 west and proceed to South Kinney Coulee Road. Turn left onto South Kinney Coulee Road (by the Kwik Trip) and follow to Stoney Creek Inn.
From the south, take Hwy 14/61 or Hwy 33 into La Crosse and go north on Losey Blvd. (Hwy 16) to South Kinney Coulee Road. Turn right on to South Kinney Coulee Road (by the Kwik Trip) and follow to Stoney Creek Inn.
The trailhead kiosk is on the lawn at the west end of Stoney Creek Hotel (you’ll see it as you approach by car). Okay to park at hotel or in nearby Gundersen ramp.
